Dale
is a third-generation Memphian. He grew
up watching Sivad and Studio Wrestling on TV, buying
Buried Treasures from the Merry Mobile, and visiting the
Enchanted Forest every Christmas. As a child, he
appeared with his
Cub Scout troop on Happy Hal's Fun House, and his first job
was throwing the Memphis Press-Scimitar from his
bicycle. He attended Scenic Hills Elementary School,
Raleigh-Egypt High School (Class of 76), and the
University of Memphis (Class of 80). While in
college he served on the Memphis & Shelby County Youth
Guidance Commission. He was a regular contributor
to Memphis Magazine in the 1980s, and he is the
author of "Whatever It Takes: The First 50 Years of
Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center," published in
2006. |

Glenn
attended Grahamwood Elementary, Kingsbury Jr. High, and
Kingsbury High School (Class of 63). His first job
was bagging groceries at the Pic-Pac on Summer at
Highland. He remembers riding the #52 bus downtown
with his mother to shop at Goldsmiths. While they
were downtown, he would supplement his stamp collection
at the Herron-Hill Stamp Shop next to the Warner Theater
on Main Street. While in high school he and his friends
would swim at Maywood or the pool at Gaisman Park.
After a stint in the military during the Vietnam War, he
attended the University of Memphis
(Class of 73).

Bonnie Kourvelas,

Bonnie
Kourvelas is a native Memphian with a love of local
history. She grew up in East Memphis and graduated
from Sheffield High School and the University of
Memphis, starting her career as a TV newswriter and
producer before coming back to her hometown. She has
produced four documentaries on Memphis history for the
"Memphis Memoirs" series on WKNO-TV: Lost Memphis, At
the Movies, Beyond the Parkways, and When
TV Came to Town. The last two garnered regional Emmy
nominations. Her "real" job is now in FedEx
Corporate Communications, but she freelances as host and
segment producer of Southern Routes, a monthly
magazine-style show on WKNO about interesting people,
places, and things about the South. Find out more at the
