This is such a lovely church! Growing up in it was so wonderful. There
were so many traditions....the Ladies BAZAR in November....so you could
pick up Holiday Gifts. The Revivals in the Summer and Vacation Bible
School. The Men's Club Christmas dinner with Santa. The music was always
outstanding. I remember the special Christmas and Easter Music being
spectacular. Charles Stewart was Minister for many years (70's). Dr. Cook
was there as minister next for many years as well (80's). At one point,
the average attendance was about 1,000 on a Sunday. It was an extremly
large and active Methodist Church. It was very connected to the schools in
the area especially Treadwell. I do remember the church being used for the
Treadwell High School Bacculareate Service. My grandfather and grandmother
were founding members of this church in the early 1900's. My parents were
married in this church (1943) and all of their children baptized and
confirmed here. My parents funerals were both held at this church. What a
great memory of life......growing up in this church and faith tradition.
