Oak Hall first opened in Downtown
Memphis in 1859, when clothes were still sold by the light of coal oil lamps. Store ledgers from the late 1800s recorded visits made to the store Buffalo Bill Cody. The business has stood the test of time under the leadership of five
generations. It has become one of the oldest family-owned stores in
the United States, now run by Soloman Halle's great-great-grandsons, Bill and Bob Levy.
Through the past 150 years the company has been located in various places. Its suburban location opened in 1966 served as the store’s headquarters
until 1996 when it moved to the present location in the Regalia Center in
East Memphis. A store expansion and remodeling completed in
2006 boosted Oak Hall's size to over 24,000 square feet. |
