1960s
Lakeland Park had a train
called Old Huff N Puff. The Lakeland Sky Ride was
the world's longest (and it seemed even longer when
it got stuck).
Lakeland's public pool had a 10-foot high diving
board.
And who could forget Lakeland Raceway's ever-present
radio commercials: "Sunday! Sunday! Lakeland
Raceway! Nitro-fueled funny cars! Car-crushing
four-by-four monster machines! Sunday! Sunday!"
