I lived on Leech Cove in Whitehaven during the mid sixties and my father built a high wooden fence to hide the garbage cans from the street. My brother and I climbed to the top and would watch the movies from the 61 drive in. My mother would catch us up on the fence but would not make us come down till the movie was over.

Best place to be on Saturday night.

I grew up in Whitehaven, we went to the Bellevue Drive In on HWY 51. Remember sneaking in friends in the trunk?! We went to St. Paul's Catholic Church and grade school. Graduated from Immaculate Conception High School for Girls in'66, my families home was on Nellie Dr. It's been moved and sold ever since the Airport was supposed to use our land for expansion, they never did!!!!!

Southwest Twin Drive In was the sight of my first auto accident. We were leaving, waiting at the traffic light, when someone rear ended the car behind us and they rear ended our car hard enough to jam the doors.

McKellar Park. Motorcycle track. We used to race around on our little bikes and do wheelies.

Once we owned the night; instead of the drug dealers. We would cruise between McD's and Shoney's in muscle cars, or go to the drive in, or cruise down to Sardis. We lived about a mile apart, he on Keyes in Whitehave and me on Brandywine in Southaven. I graduated from Bishop Byrne. Mike went to Vietnam. We have not been separated for one hour since. Celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary. Our new mustang is a Shelby. Still cruisin, loving and having a good time cept we are doing it way out west now!

I grew up on Nellie Rd in the 60's. My family settled and named Hudgens Rd for themselves back in the 1830's. Whitehaven was a great place to live once upon a time.
