In 1960, I was in the Air Force, stationed in West Germany. I went to
Elvis' base to try to see him. He was not at home but I took a picture of
the house he was living in. In 1968, at a touch football game, I got his
autograph on the picture. It had been eight years. He was excited to see
the picture and showed it to his friends.

Memphis had it's own great music in the 60's. The Guilloteens the house
band at the Roaring 60's teen club with thier hit "I Don't Believe", Tommy
Burk and the Counts who sang "Cute' and "I Don't Want a Lot", The Barkays
"Soul Finger", The Mar-Keys, Rufus "Walking the Dog" and "Can Your Monkey
do the Dog", The Box Tops, Isaac Hayes, Larry Raspberry and the Gentrys,
The Blazers, the LeSabers, RAndy and teh Radiants plus an infinite number
of garage bands. I can't remember all the great groups and musicians were
playing in Memphis during the 60's. And J.H. Wallace just for you, "From
earth to Venus from Jupiter to Mars everyone knows the position of the
stars it the big OK WLOK." And with Stax in Memphis there were many many
great black musicians, and bluesmen Furry Lewis comes to mind, and ofcourse
BB King. Volumns could be written about music in Memphis in the 60's.
