FedEx Forum opened in September of 2004. The Memphis Grizzlies of the NBA and the National Collegiate Athletic Association men's basketball program of the University of Memphis (the Tigers) previously played home games at the Pyramid Arena before relocating to the FedEx Forum. The arena cost $250 million and is owned by the City of Memphis. FedEx purchased the naming rights for $92 million.The venue also has the capability of hosting a range of events including: ice hockey games, concerts, and family shows.

The interior of FedEx Forum is designed in a Memphis' musical heritage theme. There are paintings and murals depicting many of Memphis's local artists. Even some of the Arena's restaurants are named with a music them, Opus Restaurant and the Blue Note Lounge. The FedEx Forum is located at 191 Beale Street.
